DAVID B. HOOTEN, President
Born into an Air Force family, trumpeter, David B. Hooten was born in Frascati, Italy, and grew up in various cities in the United States and Europe.
As a scholarship student, David received his degree in music education from North Texas State University, where he studied with Dr. Leonard Canderlaria. Two years later, he earned his Master's degree in music performance from the University of Oklahoma where he studied with Dr. Jacob Larson.
David is currently a trumpet soloist residing in Oklahoma City. His busy schedule includes appearances all year throughout the world as a guest trumpet soloist in recitals and with symphony orchestras.
David has been a soloist with The Kiev Symphony Orchestra, The Garland Symphony Orchestra, The East Texas Symphony Orchestra, The Oklahoma Youth Orchestra, The Enid Symphony Orchestra, The Mormon Youth Orchestra and Choir, The Thailand National Symphony Orchestra, for Thailand's gala event of the year, The Queen's 60th Birthday. David has performed numerous times as a soloist with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic and has received standing ovations. Conductor Joel Levine is quoted as saying, "David is a joy to work with. He really knows how to excite the audience."
In May of 1989, David released his first solo album. "The Trumpet Shall Sound," produced by his own label, DBH Productions, Inc, the album was critically acclaimed and sold tens of thousands of copies worldwide. David has since released "Trumpets of Christmas," "Trumpets of Glory," "On the Classical Side," "Dixieland Praise," "A Grand Christmas," "From Kiev with Love," "Timeless," "Young Again", and "Sweet Georgia Blue." Upon the release of "On the Classical Side," Doc Severinsen is quoted as saying. "I know you'll be able to hear special qualities in his work."
On April 19, 1996, David had the honor of performing "Amazing Grace" to open the Memorial Ceremony for the victims of the Oklahoma City bombing which was broadcast worldwide.
In August 1996, David performed the National Anthem at Yankee Stadium for the NY Yankees baseball game. In August of 1997, David performed the National Anthem for the opening game of the Dallas Cowboys. He has also performed for the opening game of the University of Oklahoma Sooner football team and numerous other sporting events.
David is the official trumpeter for the "Palmer Cup" and performs throughout the world for this worldwide college golf event. He also composed "Fanfare for the Amateur Athlete" which is the Palmer Cup theme and has been used on the golf channel worldwide.
On Father's Day 1997, David performed on "The Hour of Power" television show from the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, CA. Since then, David has appeared fifteen more times. In September of 1999, David was honored to perform at a private audience at the Vatican for Pope John Paul II. David was humbled when he got to meet and speak with the Holy Father. David has also performed for the President of the United States, George W. Bush. At this performance David proposed to his wife, Whitney, in the China Room of the White House. She was presented with an Oval diamond engagement ring to coincide with the Oval Office. She accepted, and as to date they have two beautiful children, Henry David Hooten and Ava Elizabeth Hooten.
In February of 2000, David was invited to be the soloist with the Kiev Symphony Orchestra to record a solo album. The recording of romantic classical music and opera arias, adapted for solo trumpet and orchestra by David was a fantastic success. The album is entitled "From Kiev with Love."
David also released two duet albums with guitarist Edgar Cruz entitled "Timeless," and "Sweet Georgia Blue," containing easy listening jazz, Italian and Spanish favorites, as well as some gospel tunes.

Mr. Hooten has chaired numerous fund raising events and has raised literally millions of dollars for charities over the years.
On July 5th of 2003 Hooten produced "Oklahoma Freedom Celebration" a concert at SBC Ballpark in OKC to salute our troops. Hooten also performed and M.C.'ed the event with former Miss America Susan Powell. Thousands attended. Hooten and his wife Whitney established the David and Whitney Hooten Foundation through the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. This self directed foundation helps provide music education for lesser privileged children. Hooten was the title sponsor for the 2003 David B. Hooten Invitational that was held at Bel Mare Golf Course in Norman, OK. This was a P.G.A event with a $120,000.00 purse.
Mr. Hooten is the Chair for the 2007 (Red-Tie Night) Gala, Oklahoma's single largest fund raising event which benefits the Oklahoma AIDS Care Fund.
